Hi, I’m Natalie, a Western Australian surfer and the founder of Temperate Wetsuits.
Temperate is inspired by the coastline that raised me, Perth’s cool water reef breaks and the beautiful temperate marine species that inhabit them. Before creating this brand, I worked as a Marine Scientist researching Western Australia’s tropical coral reefs. Even though my work often took me to warm waters, it’s our cool, kelp covered reefs that feel like home.
Our logo, and first wetsuit line, honours Ecklonia radiata. The common kelp that forms the backbone of our temperate reefs and quietly supports an entire world of marine life. Through Temperate, I hope to bring greater awareness to these ecosystems that are so often overshadowed by their tropical counterparts.
My promise to this brand is to give back to the reefs that give us so much.
Through Temperate, 1% of every wetsuit sale is donated to the Great Southern Reef Foundation,
helping to fund critical research into the biodiversity and ecological processes that sustain our southern reef systems. By supporting this work, I hope not only to celebrate these ecosystems, but to contribute to their protection and long-term resilience
This brand is where my love of marine science meets my love of surf.

and move with the raw power of our Indian and Southern Ocean.
Temperate acknowledges the Whadjuk Noongar people as the Traditional Custodians of the land and ocean on which this brand was founded and respects their continued connection to ocean Country.
